Xè mejo el tacon del buso- MASTER THESIS BIOMATERIALS

"Xè mejo el tacon del buso" is a textile project which wants to analyze the topic of sustainability in the fashion system through the proposal of bioplastics materials filled with leftover fabrics and food waste. My research started observing the tomatoes in my father's garden, which were rotting because of stink bugs invasion. I was inspired by the interesting textures of the tomatoes, but also by the ability of my father to solve these problems with creativity and sustainable methods (creating honey glued panels to catch the insects). My collection is entirely created with agar agar bioplastic, which I cooked by myself, including in it also textile and food leftovers. I am aware that they are not 'ready' for the industry because the project needs a lot of experimentation, but these materials want to point out the urge that we have of changing our mindset and our impact on the environment, through creativity and withouth boundaries or prejudice.
